East Lombardy – European Region of Gastronomy 2017 is a project featuring the enhancement of quality local food and wine products and culinary traditions, with a view to integrating them in the tourism offer and to improving local sustainability. East Lombardy 2017 was presented at TTG, an international B2B exhibition on tourism that gathers about 2.400 enterprises from more than 100 countries, totalling more than 35.000 visitors each year.
Roberta Garibaldi, scientific director of the East Lombardy – European Region of Gastronomy 2017, Barbara Manfredini, Cremona’s council member for tourism and the economy, Giacomo Galazzo, President of the association Circuito Città d’Arte Pianura Padana, partner of the project, and Lucia Barzanò, President of the Franciacorta’s Wine and Dine Route, presented East Lombardy 2017 to tourism professionals and the specialised press in the Sala Cedro – Hall Ovest. Furthermore, East Lombardy shared a co-marketing desk with the association Circuito Città d’Arte Pianura Padana, at stand 007 within Pavilion 5.
TTG, took place this year from 13-15 October. It represents one of the largest fairs in this field in Italy, and is thus one of the main places where supply and demand come together. During the fair, visitors have the opportunity to analyze international trends, to learn about new products in the market and to compare products.
The European Region of Gastronomy Platform and Award aim to contribute to better quality of life in European regions, by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating gastronomic innovation. IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism) organises the award with the support of European institutions. It is an international network of experts that aim to guide, facilitate and support leaders in cities, regions and cultural projects to understand the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.
