The jury members for the European Region of Gastronomy 2017 Award have been announced today, representing a cross-section of sectors (knowledge institutions, third sector, public and private initiatives) as well as seven European countries. The jury members for the 2017 award include representatives from the founding Platform: Prof. Dr Ilie Rotariu of the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu; Blanca Cros from the Catalan Tourism Board; Claire Robert from the Conservatoire International des Cuisines Méditerranéennes; Anja van Hout of Agrifood Capital and Carlos Fernandes from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Minho, as well as external IGCAT experts: Iñaki Gaztelumundi, Director of the World Forum on Food Tourism and Ilona Sares from ProAgria North-Savo.
Candidate bid books from three regions have been received – Bergamo – East Lombardy (Italy); Aarhus – Central Denmark Region (Denmark) and Riga – Gauja Region (Latvia) and will be closely examined by the jury members throughout the next two months. The bidding regions will then each give a short presentation on Friday 3 July at the Fundació Alícia in Catalonia, after which the jury will give its recommendations during a reception following the presentations.
