During the 50th edition of Vinitaly, the world biggest wine fair, that took place from the 10th to the 13th of April in Verona, the European Region of Gastronomy partners presented the “Cantina ERG” (ERG’s wine cellar) project. Giovanni Fava, Regional Councilor for Agriculture, the four mayors of the cities involved in the East Lombardy 2017 project, Roberta Garibaldi, Scientific Director, and the Signum Assocation took part in a press conference on the 11th of April in order to introduce the “Cantina ERG” project, that will take place inside Bergamo’s Domus, a permanent structure located in the heart of the city, constructed in the occasion of Expo 2015. After having been used during the Universal Exposition, Bergamo’s Domus will now become the space where to host and display not only the products and traditions related to Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona and Mantua’s winemaking, but also other typical products of the area, such as cheeses. Starting in the next couple of weeks, many typical products of East Lombardy will be showcased in Bergamo’s Domus, where they will be prepared and presented by chefs coming from the four provinces, working in the Domus in rotation. Furthermore, once a week the appointment will be dedicated specifically to the wines of the area, 25 of which have received quality assurance labels, thanks to the presence of wine-experts and to the possibility of tasting the diverse types of wine. The project main supporters have been the Consortium for the safeguard of the Valcalepio wine, ceaselessly working for the involvement of other Consortiums and whose role is to encourage the participation of all the producers of the area, that will be given the opportunity to promote in rotation their excellent food and wine products in Bergamo’s Domus, and the Signum Association, one of the more than 70 stakeholders that currently support the East Lombardy 2017 – European Region of Gastronomy project.
