Taste workshops and gastronomic itineraries to be developed in East Lombardy


A new interesting project has started, organised by the East Lombard region. Thanks to the collaboration between the University of Bergamo, main partner of the East Lombardy, European Region of Gastronomy 2017 project, and Slow Food, an initiative has been developed concerning the so-called “Laboratori del Gusto” (i.e. taste workshops), that are educational laboratories aiming at providing concrete and practical knowledge in order to educate toward a better, healthier and more sustainable way of eating. These are addressed to 140 students from touristic, hospitality and agrarian high schools of the city of Bergamo, that will also have the opportunity to project touristic gastronomic itineraries, planned from the young for the young. The itineraries’ theme will be a typical product of the area, and they will aim at valorising the territory towards the rediscovery of the traditions, recipes and the possibility for the tourist to experience all the activities linked to the product’s making and consumption. The general criteria for the elaboration of the itineraries will be the sustainability of the proposals, their feasibility, their innovation and creativity, and whether they envisage any emotional experience. Indeed, the aim is for as many of these itineraries as possible to become real after the conclusion of the project.

The European Region of Gastronomy Platform and Award aim to contribute to better quality of life in European regions, by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating gastronomic innovation. IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism) organises the award with the support of European institutions.
