More than 100 food events are ready to celebrate Aarhus and Central Denmark Region as European Region of Gastronomy

Along with Central Denmark Region, Aarhus has been appointed European Region of Gastronomy 2017. The interest from the city's food entrepreneus is overwhelming and by now, more than 100 events are already in the programme.

At the moment, Aarhus is experiencing a gastronomical blooming with three Michelin stars, a horde of passionate farmers and producers and a creative bunch of food entrepreneurs, ever-developing the food scene in Aarhus.

Thus, the interest of for being part of the programme of European Region of Gastronomy 2017 is huge. Including the Chefs on the Beach who are collaborating with the Natural History Musem and Taste of Aarhus in arranging edible experiences by the sea.

"It's amazing that the focus on our region and our food now gets even bigger. It gives us the opportunity to bring people out in the nature and show how big of a pantry our everyday nature is," Lars Brøndum, biologist and research assistant at Natural History Museum, says.

The large interest among the food entrepreneurs of Aarhus is seen after the city has been glorified gastronomically during the last couple of years. First, the awarding of a Michelin star to three of the city's restaurants and later on with great praise of the gastronomical level of the city in articles published by New York Times and Lonely Plant. Something one of the key players on the food scene in Aarhus has noticed.

“The gastronomy in Aarhus is developing rapidly these years. I see more and more new restaurant, that have the courage to reach the next gastronomical level. To me, that is extremely exciting. It shows that the future of the food scene in Aarhus is bright - and that it will probably attract even more foodies, journalists and other gastrnomical passionates from all over the world," Wassim Hallal, owner of Restaurant Frederikshøj and Amabassador for European Region of Gastronomy 2017 says.

It is Food Organisation fo Denmark who, in collaboration with European Capital fo Culture 2017, The City of Aarhus and Central Denmark Region that are planning the programme for Aarhus and Central Denmark Region as European Region of Gastronomy.
