Forthcoming meeting of ERG partners

A meeting of regions has been convened and hosted by North Brabant Province at the request of the Culture Committee Chair of the Committee of the Regions, Anton Rombouts and will be chaired by Prof. Greg Richards, President of IGCAT.

The meeting, which will take place in Den Bosch on 24th- 25th April is expected to put into motion the European Region of Gastronomy award. Each of the invited regions will be invited to provide a 10 minute presentation of their region, referring to current projects (best practise, knowledge areas), aspirations and future challenges with regards to food, culture, economy and tourism. Each presentation should conclude with what the partners hope to achieve by holding the ERG title.

Each region will have different projects and problems so the aim of this session is to see where there are commonalities, where there could be knowledge transfer and in which areas a framework for the ERG title could be developed that would respond to the needs of all the partners.

The meeting will then lead to discussion and debate which is hoped will inform the future direction of the ERG bidding process. Questions to be discussed during this session include:

a)      What do we want to achieve collectively?

b)     What should be the criteria for selection of a region to hold the title?

c)      How many regions should hold the title in one year?

d)     What we would be a practical start and end date?

e)    Jury member selection process
